When reading newspapers for information on someone’s death and funeral, be certain to check out the “gossip” columns even after the funeral for mention of relatives who came back for the funeral. Sometimes their visit will be mentioned in a “gossip” column a week or two after the obituary.

  1. Check out the “Community Columns.” A leading citizen in the county, who had many siblings living in different parts of the county as well as some living in other areas of the state, died his death was mentioned in 5 different commnity columns in the county newspaper.

  2. Also many obits contain the phrase, “Such and such newspapers please copy.” This will lead you possibly where they have relatives or where they came from.
