Search Google Books (http://books.google.com) for every ancestor or relative. You never know who might appear in a printed reference. Sometimes the most unexpected names appear in print.

  1. Good idea! However some names don't lend themselves to searches — such as “Camp” or “Street.” I am fortunate that the name of my home county is unique and quite frequently find good stuff when using it for a search.

  2. Amazing! I have never used Google Books in this way. I usually look for a specific book. I entered my grandmother's maiden name in the search. The first item that came up was an article about her brother's home, with a picture of her and the family in front of the house! Thank you!!!!!
