Do you have the only copy of a family history item that you have not preserved? We are not talking about digital images of records that are available elsewhere as those are already preserved. Personal items such as photographs, letters, handwritten materials, etc. where your original is the only one in existence.
What have you done to preserve, identify, and share the item?

I have become the “depository” for family pictures, etc. I invested in archival quality folders, etc. in which to stores them. I have scanned and digitized most items to make them easier to share with family. It was one of my “I’m going to do this when I retire” projects. Along with many old photos,I have my grandfathers naturalization papers, my grandmother’s address book where she also wrote in birthdates, etc., my aunts scrapbook she made during WWII, and so on. It’s all in a file cabinet and “the cloud”.
I have too and have ended up with more pictures (and other items) than I ever thought I would. Preservation is really important–along with identification.
