Every document on William Lake, his siblings, and his parents, indicated that they lived in Mercer County, Kentucky. Except this one page from his compiled military service record. It indicated he was born in Marshall County, Kentucky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After saying \u201cMercer\u201d over and over, I realized that to someone unfamiliar with Kentucky geography it could be interpreted as \u201cMarshall.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes inconsistencies are not as inconsistent as one thinks. \u00a0Before you give too much credence to a \u201cnew\u201d location, make certain it is really new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/genealogytipoftheday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/marshall-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A reminder from a while back&#8230; Always consider how a place name may be said and heard.
