Some family members referred to my Aunt Luella as \u201cLaw.\u201d I had known her by those names for so long that I never questioned it and never wondered where it came from. I just took as it was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Until today. I was saying the name to myself for some reason or another and it dawned on me that the originator of the \u201cLaw\u201d name probably said \u201cLuella\u201d in such a way that \u201claw\u201d was a part of it. I never heard it pronounced that way and didn\u2019t say it that way myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course the reason I never heard anyone say \u201cLawella\u201d or \u201cLawellaw\u201d is because those people never said her full name. They called her \u201cLaw.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Knowing the origination of her nickname is not crucial to my research\u2013just a reminder that sometimes it takes a while for things to dawn on us.
