{"id":20817,"date":"2024-08-12T21:54:16","date_gmt":"2024-08-13T02:54:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/genealogytipoftheday.com\/?p=20817"},"modified":"2024-08-12T21:54:17","modified_gmt":"2024-08-13T02:54:17","slug":"do-something-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/genealogytipoftheday.com\/index.php\/2024\/08\/12\/do-something-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Do Something"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It can be easy to waste \u201cresearch\u201d time by mindlessly looking at online sites for one thing or another.&nbsp; Some ways to avoid these time wasting activities are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>make a list of research tasks you wish to accomplish;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>turn your internet connection off;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>make a list of documents to transcribe;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>make a list of \u201cdone\u201d ancestors that should be reviewed;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>set a schedule of when to go back and check a site for an update to a database (daily is probably excessive);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>lists in general are good.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Chasing some research leads down those \u201crabbit holes\u201d can be a good thing\u2013sometimes.
