She lost her citizenship upon her marriage to unnaturalized Greek immigrant Peter Verikios. I&#8217;d forgotten about this until I stumbled upon a reference to <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/offer-listing\/0520206509\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;condition=all&amp;creative=390957&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;tag=gentipoftheda-20&amp;linkId=TRO4UAK4HEKWR2QZ\" target=\"_blank\">A Nationality of Her Own<\/a><\/em><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"https:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=gentipoftheda-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/>\u00a0which addresses the citizenship of US women before the 1922 passage of the Cable Act which separated a woman&#8217;s citizenship status from that of her husband.<\/p>\n<p>When Mary and Peter married his citizenship status became hers.
