When I&#8217;m stuck on a person or family and am seeming to make no headway, I will look and see if their name appears in any of the online trees on the various sites. Submitted trees are only as accurate as the compiler, the information they used, and their research methodology. Some compilers are careful about their research and others are not.<\/p>\n<p>However, when using these trees, I:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>never copy<\/b>\u00a0the information into my tree-ever;<\/li>\n<li><b>search<\/b>\u00a0the tree for\u00a0<b>sources<\/b>\u00a0(besides other trees);<\/li>\n<li><b>use<\/b>\u00a0the dates\/places\/relationships given<b>\u00a0to suggest<\/b>\u00a0sources that might confirm that information;<\/li>\n<li><b>remember<\/b>\u00a0the conclusions could be invalid and\u00a0<b>only spend so much time<\/b>\u00a0trying to confirm them;<\/li>\n<li><b>try<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0<b>contact<\/b>\u00a0the submitter;<\/li>\n<li><b>never copy<\/b>\u00a0the information into my tree-ever (that&#8217;s worth including twice).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Compiled trees can be inaccurate, just like published books.
