Consultation Sale
---------------------------------
What is a consultation?

It’s a chance to discuss your specific problem with a professional
genealogist, one who can look at your problem family with a fresh set of
eyes. It can help you get started if you are just getting started with your
research or continue if you’ve reached a point where you do not know what
to do. It’s like having a problem-solving class devoted to your family.
We’ll look at see if there any additional clues or leads in the records you
have already located and discuss what the next steps are in your genealogy
journey on your family of interest. It’s also a time for you to ask
specific questions about the materials you have found.

Natural Weathering?

----------------------------------------
It's been suggested by a reader on Substack that the probable reason this
stone looks the way it does is that at some point someone tried to clean it
in a harsh way and that the weathering here may not be entirely natural.
I'm not certain, but I do wonder.
What I do know is that, while I've been to the stone several times, I have
never made an attempt to clean it as there's never been a need. I have
tried taking photos at varying times of days, angles, and the like. I also
know---that in this case, for this stone, the records of the adjacent
church provide the genealogical details that are inscribed.

The verse or sentiment at the bottom has been lost to time.

What do you think? Is it natural weathering? I'm not sure, but the thing to
remember is to do no harm when (or if) you prep a stone for a picture.
Harsh materials and chemicals should not be used.
