We always keep the following in mind at Rootdig and all of my blogs:

  • we only ask for personal information we need (which really isn’t much)
  • we do not share any personal information you provide to us except in accordance with the law

What we collect

We only have access to personally-identifiable information that you provide to us either by email or directly by subscribing or commenting on our blog. This includes commenting on the blog (where you provide an email address and a name), emailing us directly (where you provide an email and, possibly a name), or subscribing to blog posts via email (where you provide us with an email). This information is retained as long as your comment remains on the blog

We collect aggregate data about visitors to our site (browser type, language preference, referring site, date and time of visit–non-identifying information), through WordPress.  This information is tracked in non-identifiable form and is used to improve the efficiency of the site, determine what posts are popular, and other site-performance metrics. This information is not sold, rented, or shared.

Our spam-blocking service, Akismet, gets temporary access to blog comments to prevent spam.  Those of you who subscribe to email updates provide your email address to Feedburner, owned by Google. Your email is all that we need for you to subscribe to our blog updates via email. The only other information provided when you subscribe is the date the email subscription was confirmed. Your email address is not retained if you unsubscribe from these emails. User who have difficulty removing themselves from this list should email me at mjnrootdig@gmail.com for removal. We use your email address to send emails from Constant Contact.

Constant Contact materials

We use Constant Contact to send announcements and weekly blog updates out to subscribers. We retain your email and name (if you choose to provide it). Every email sent via Constant Contact contains an unsubscribe link. Users who have difficulty removing themselves from this list should email me at mjnrootdig@gmail.com for removal.  We use your email address to send emails from Constant Contact.

Payments

Our downloads of webinars are processed through Digital Product Delivery. You can read their terms and conditions here. Their privacy policy includes information on payment processing.

This website “Genealogy Tip of the Day” and “Rootdig” do not receive payment details when payments for webinar downloads are processed. We are only provided notice of approved payment and item(s) ordered. We receive your:

  • name
  • mailing address (if you choose to provide it)
  • email address (for contacting you with download information)
  • comments you may make in the comment box on the order
  • items ordered

Those same details are provided to use when using PayPal to process payments for other products and services.

We do not share emails nor do we rent them.

Third Party Links

We are not responsible for the privacy policy of any sites to which we link that are not a part of the genealogytipoftheday.com domain.
