Draft Registrations do not Equate to Military Service
------------------------------------

It is not uncommon for people to confuse US draft registrations with
military service. Not everyone who registered for a draft saw active
military service and one should not assume that just because there is a
card that there should be military service for that individual.

The National Archives does have the classification record for those who
registered for the draft. That classification record includes their
classification and ranking for draft eligibility and were records of
Selective Service. More information is available at

Your Watershed
----------------------------

Have you thought about the watershed in which you live, you grew up, or
where your ancestor's property was located? It did not take me long with
some internet searching to discover the watershed of the farm on which I
grew up. I knew water from our property went to the Mississippi River, but
did not realize the actual path it took to get there. That was a little
geographic discovery for me as I really had not thought about water
drainage where I lived.

A Google search for "watersheds yourstate" would be a good start to finding
such references.

While the watershed knowledge may be a little bit excessive, knowing the
local waterways for your ancestor is always a good idea.
