When querying any database or searching any record, consider the possibility that a relative’s first and last names have been interchanged. Is the individual named Tinsley Johnson or Johnson Tinsley? Even where the first name is not usually used as a last name, it is always possible that someone entering data or enumerating a census inverts the two names.
