I have a February 1950 Popular Mechanics and it has a very similar article on the 1950 census as the one you found from Modern Mechanix. Most of the picture are the same.
The 1950 & 1960 articles are worth reading if only for the stories on what census-takers had to go through. I have a new respect for them…and I'm almost willing to forgive all the misspelled names 🙂
It does give one a different perspective–that's for certain.
