Always make certain you look at all extant parts of the entire “marriage record.” In some locations there may just be a register. In others, there may be a register, licenses, applications, and additional documents. Those other documents may contain details not listed in the register. see-the-license

  1. As I work on my Sanders family and marriage records, I check the person who performed the ceremony. Many times I’m finding the ceremony is performed by a relative of the bride and/or groom. It shows another family connection.

  2. So true! I was fortunate to be able to visit the county courthouse in the town where my great great grandparents were married. I had found their marriage info in records on line but was amazed at how much extra info was in the actual documents at the courthouse. A treasure trove!
