In the United States, agricultural censuses were taken in addition to population schedules for the years of 1850-1880 inclusive. These enumerations can provide additional information about your farming ancestor’s farm operation-acreage, crops, values produced, etc. There is more information on these schedules on the National Archives website at https://www.archives.gov/research/census/nonpopulation.
