When was the last time you backed up your digital images and files? I realized today that I have a variety of photos taken around the time my mother passed away nearly five months ago that I have not saved anywhere other than my phone.

When I charged my phone today it acted a little strange and I became concerned that something was wrong with it. Before I did anything else, I made certain I had moved those pictures to at least two other locations so that my pictures were safe.

Don’t wait.

  1. I’m sorry for your loss. Great advice about the pictures. I have a bunch of 3.5″ floppy disks of photos I took while on a trip with my dad on what we knew would be his last trip to his home state many years ago. Now I need a computer that reads them. 🙂

    • Try one of the thrift stores (like Goodwill) or a local computer shop; you might be able to pick up an older tower for cheap. Or see if one of the photo services, online, can take them and transfer to dvds.

Good luck. Know how important it is.

  2. Besides backing those photos (and other important items including your genealogy database) to two other places a good way to back them up is by sharing.
